In fact the reality was even better than seeing it online and the smell is gorgeous. If I had waited too long, I think I would have been almost too in awe of it to put anything in it. However, it helps because it is loosely bound so easy to rectify mistakes! So I have made a start and following a thought from last week when we visited Witley Court, I added Tennysons poem:
The Oak
Live thy Life,
Young and old,
Like yon oak,
Bright in spring,
Living gold;
Summer-rich
Then; and then
Autumn-changed
Soberer-hued
Gold again.
All his leaves
Fall'n at length,
Look, he stands,
Trunk and bough
Naked strength.
It seemed to fit quite nicely as a start and I added a small watcolour sketch to go with it.
Have a great weekend :)

The journal looks lovely, it will be a pleasure to hold and use :-)
Lovely, Chrissy!
I'm sure before long it will be filled with inspirational treasures; your beautiful artwork, thoughts (and provoking poetry - I loved the one above!) and spontaneous sketches.....What a delight - Enjoy!xx
I think 'handsome' springs to mind - its lovely. A perfect companion for your pencil - we'll expect some real gems from you now Chrissy
(not that you don't usually produce real gems of course) :-)
Chrissy, the journal looks a beauty.Mentioning ALT and living on the IOW I like the following too.
Today I saw the dragon-fly
Come from the wells where he did lie.
An inner impulse rent the veil
Of his old husk: from head to tail
Came out clear plates of sapphire mail.
He dried his wings: like gauze they grew;
Thro' crofts and pastures wet with dew
A living flash of light he flew."
very nice sketch :
and lovely journal to use

I love the look of your new journal! The Celtic knot is beautiful, and the shape of the cover makes it seem sort of vintage/steampunky/Lord of the Ringish...an inspiration in itself!
wow! thats beautiful! I adore the celtic knotting.
enjoy your journal. The watercolour is so pretty!
much love Teen xx
Your sketch and the poem are perfect for a first page, looks a lovely journal!
I could NOT draw onto that journal, way too much pressure to live up to it's gorgeousness. I'm sure you are up to it, though. Enjoy, well earned.
