The fields of rapeseed are now full in bloom.
The news as I got back was all pretty dire with the outbreak of swine flu and it seems in the fortnight since the paper have been full of MP’s claims which seem questionable to say the least. Sometimes, I cannot help but think that the leaders and politicians in our country hardly set a good moral example to the youngsters. I know that in many cases the law has probably not been broken, but *deep sigh*
I have to say, I am pretty much apolitical in that I would just love to see some people in key positions who genuinely cared about the future of the country and are prepared to show a few “old fashioned” morals.
For those of you that don’t know, I am also a member of some wildlife forums and occasionally write a bit of a blog for a birding one. However, I don’t just have an interest in birds and there was an article pointing to the RSPB site regarding the Marine and Coastal Access bill.
It can be found here.
Although this bill will go a long way towards protecting our marine life, there are some serious flaws in the amount of protection it offers. The subject is quite dear to my heart right now and I think I shall probably consider doing some marine art to raise awareness. Do any fellow artists fancy joining me in some dolphin/marine art and blog about it?
Otherwise, I am pretty much back into the swing of things now, although the weather being so bad is frustrating. However, despite the rain, at least we are now getting the occasional glimpse of sunshine.
On another good note, I have come back with lots of inspiration. I have the concept of many new ideas in my head. Those of you that have an eagle eye will notice that I have changed the name of my blog. This is not to break away from all of my crafty friends but I consider that my blog is much more arty than crafty nowadays and I rarely get around to making cards, I simply wanted the title to reflect this.
I have also spent some the looking around at some new sites which have made me think about the direction of my style. I decided that my current style is very strong but could use a little more depth, so to follow on from my last Tiggs project, I am trying to build some more depth into my work.
Here is my latest WIP of a spaniel. I am taking more time at it, it will be interesting if the final result is how I want it to be.

beautiful pictures again my lovely!
I think the new blog title is a good one, you have lots of facets to your creativity so this covers it all.
The work you have done already on the spaniel looks so pretty ! Can't wait to see the finished result.
I think the politicians have maybe not broken the law, but they must know they have been taking the p*ss!
lots of love

The spaniel's already awesome! I'd take you up on the marine art challenge, but I think I'm going to quit art, actually. I've been mulling it over for a while now & there's really no reason to continue with it. Best of luck to you, however.
Teen, I began to feel a bit sorry for people that were looking me up on google as being a card maker! I have some in progress but I only seem to get a few done about once a month now. Thanks for the feedback and yeah I do agree they are taking the pee ;)
Hi Lana, know you have been thinking of giving up art which is sad I think. Although I can well understand any artist becoming disheartened at the minute. am not sure I would like be doing it commercially.
ohh love the fur :D I think you are doing a great job getting more depth to him.
The problem is that not matter what bill or law comes into effect there are always going to be people that ignore them and just don't care :/ When fishermen stop blaming the seals and the dolphins for the lack of fish it might be a start. I actually got into an argument with a fisherman in Canada because he was saying he was going to kill any seals he saw as they were eating his catch. He couldn't get it through his thick skull that maybe there is a lack of fish because the fishermen take too many? :/ I am all for changing things for the better for all wildlife, the problem is there is a lot of ignorant people out there that do not care and don't see the point in helping wildlife and their homes :/ I'll see if I can get something drawn up in the next week or two :)
Hi Chrissy,
Thank you so much for stopping by---I have been so lax recently in getting around to all the blogs I love, yours included!
I noticed first thing your title change and hope that all goes as you wish. Your art is beautiful so I'm glad you'll be sticking with it and your photography is awesome...was just browsing through your vacation pics and they are simply gorgeous. Your dolphin(?) there is surreal. Promise I'll get by more often...have just been all tied up with family and stuff. Now, let me go see Lana---I can't believe she's giving up her art---it is too beautiful...
p.s. I'm looking forward to your marine art!
Hi Jen, thanks for the feedback, I am taking my time and it will be interesting to see if there is an improvement.
Sadly, in the UK, most of the detrimental stuff is not even by our own fishermen....but perhaps I will do a whole blog post with my art and research it properly! It wold be good to see you do soemthing too, I would really enjoy that, an artists collaboration project :D
Holly, it is really good to see you. Hey, there are times when we don't get around for lots of reasons, sometimes life is important, family being top of the list...
Yep, you go see Lana and give her what for (is that a very British saying by the way, I am not sure) ;)
Glad you enjoyed my holiday pics...lots of inspiration for some marine art:D
Look forward to seeing the Spaniel develop Chrissy and nice pics!
Chrissy I really enjoy reading your blog when I get round to looking, which lately hasn't been often enough. Sometimes it's difficult to pin a blog down into any specific category as they move and develop with us. What I like about yours is that it reflects who you are and shows your concerns and interests. It's so much more than an art or craft blog, although your work is beautiful and inspiring.
Your incomplete painting will bring some funny & lazy flavors to that dog [prediction]. The first photo is so wonderful
Welcome back from your trip.. I am totally unfamiliar with Maldives, but looks like a tropical paradise. Honestly, I had to look it up to see exactly where it was:)
Your top landscape is fantastic. As soon as I saw the thumbnail in my dashboard reader, I said "wow". I love the way the flowers kind of fade in from the bottom and become solid yellow toward the horizon; excellent composition, too. Very much like a painting.
Glad you feel fresh and inspired to tackle some new drawings.. we all need that once in a while. Looking forward to see that spaniel finished!
Hi Sam and thank you :D
Terrie, I am glad that you find my blog more than just my art and crafts, I value that feedback so thank you...especially as I so much enjoy your blog on many levels :D
Doson, glad you like the yellow field ... :)
Hi Mark, my geography is not so good ...there are many wonderful images that I look at on your blog that I will never get to see, I think it is this learning that makes blogging so addictive. Glad you like the field too, it gives people terrible hayfever here in the UK ;)The holiday was lovely, thanks :-D
I love the first photo. Must be true, the grass IS always greener on the otherside. Do they ever make you want and long to be someplace else?
I certainly chose an interesting time to neglect your blog :D You've been on what looks like a dream holiday, tweaked your direction and are getting political!
Seriously, I'm interested in what you have in mind for the art project. I rarely draw or paint these days so I'm pretty rusty but I do take photographs and make stuff, so if that might be a fit for what you are planning let me know. If I have time I'll be up for something.
Hi William, I do think that I love where I am...but now and then if I am stuck indoors, I do long to be outside...
Bird, hey it isn't neglectful...there is always time to catch up. Just as I am doing with comments right now ;)
I am just going to find myself a piece of art that is related to our own coast in some way but try to draw attention to this bill at the same time. I do think it is important, I am sure photographs will work the same way. In fact I may manage some of those too but they take a little more luck ;)
